Licensing
Licensing For Out Of State Students
Maine Residents
The State of Maine requires the same number of hours training as New Hampshire – 1500 – therefore Maine and New Hampshire share licensing reciprocity. When you graduate from PBSHD and pass the NH licensing examinations you will receive a valid NH license. You can then apply for a Maine cosmetology license
Massachusetts Residents
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires 1000 hours of training for a cosmetology “apprentice” license. You are required to serve two (2) years of apprenticeship. If you complete the 1500 clock hour cosmetology program and become licensed in NH you can obtain a license by reciprocity in Massachusetts. Massachusetts will grant you one year of apprenticeship for the additional 500 hours of training you completed.
School License
The New Hampshire State Board of Barbering, Cosmetology and Esthetics licenses the Portsmouth Beauty School. The State Board offices are located at 2 Industrial Park Drive, Concord, New Hampshire 03301 (Telephone 603-271-3608).
